Playa del Carmen | Mexico 2011
Braving Tropical Storm Arlene at Tulum and soaking up sun, drinks, and quality time together made our Playa del Carmen trip unforgettable.
In 2011, we took a short trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, opting for the all-inclusive experience—a perfect fit for a relaxing getaway in this vibrant destination. The resort life gave us the chance to unwind, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and spend quality time together without worrying about the details of daily planning.
One of the highlights of the trip was our long-awaited excursion to Tulum, the iconic Mayan ruins perched above the turquoise Caribbean Sea. The visit was unforgettable—but not just for the usual reasons. Tropical Storm Arlene rolled through while we were there, and we found ourselves huddled against the side of the ruins, experiencing the storm’s bands up close. It was thrilling, unexpected, and definitely a story we’ll never forget. (Sadly, it also marked the end of my digital camera!)
After the storm passed, we made the most of the rest of our trip, embracing a slower pace of vacation life. We spent our days drinking, reading, and simply enjoying each other’s company, proving that sometimes the best memories come from making the best of whatever comes your way. Playa del Carmen offered the perfect blend of adventure, culture, and relaxation—stormy moments and all.
