Visiting the Duomo di Milano is a must!
Another day trip from Como took us on a quick 45-minute train ride to Milan, a vibrant and bustling metropolis. Our main goal for the day was to visit the Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano), an iconic masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture that took nearly six centuries to complete. Rising majestically from the heart of the city, the cathedral is adorned with intricate spires and statues, making it a stunning tribute to both faith and craftsmanship.
What truly sets the Duomo apart is the opportunity to tour its rooftop, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Walking among the spires and statues felt like stepping into an M.C. Escher sketch—staircases winding in unexpected directions, and statues jutting out at dramatic angles. From up there, the sweeping views of Milan stretched out in every direction, creating one of my favorite memories traveling with the boys. In a fun twist, we even ran into a fellow Buffalo Bills fan on the roof—our little running joke that we always meet at least one wherever we go!
After descending, we wandered through Milan’s lively streets, discovering charming shops, local cafés, and restaurants. Between the cathedral, the rooftop adventure, and exploring the city, it was a truly unforgettable day in one of Italy’s most iconic cities.
